Welcome
To My Setting - My Online Diary
Call it an online journal, a blog,
or nonsense musings of an ordinary girl who sometimes has a knack for making the
mundane seem extraordinary.
New! Now also featuring, "ROAN
SIA", my guest 'speaker' in this blog panel. Read his posts, now appearing
under "Roan's
Musings".

Lyle and I spent Thanksgiving 2006 over at Maria's with our friends. It was a day filled with food, drinks, music, and lots of fun for the kids.

Roan's mom called me a few weeks ago for some girly chitchat and told me about their dinner at a Korean Restaurant at a New Jersey harbor when she and Peter visited Alely and Angel in New York sometime August. Added their pics in the 'Roan's Side' album:

LYLE'S FIRST GRADE CLASS ON HALLOWEEN
I was a Parent Volunteer at Lyle's school for Halloween, so I got a chance to celebrate the day's festivities with my son and his friends and classmates. JASON & LYLE WITH THEIR VAMPIRE TEETH
 LYLE WITH HIS TEACHER
After school, my friends Maria and Marisa brought their kids over my place where we did some Karaoke singing, ate Chinese food, gave away candies to the trick or treaters, then finally went around the houses in our gated community with our kids for their trick or treating. A BIT OF KARAOKE AT HOME WITH MARIA & MARISA

Came across this love note tucked safely in my wallet...

"Dear Mom, I love you because you let me play on the computer every nite after work. Love, Lyle"

Something Lyle made at school, a pot of flowers with a little letter for Mothers' Day, which he told me I couldn't open till Sunday.
Pictured here in our frontyard, wearing his Boracay shirt from Roan.

When I lived in New York, pigeons were pretty much commonplace. Here in Vegas though, they're a rare sight for me. Today I saw two of them perched on a brick wall in our neighborhood, one being brown which was even a stranger sight than the regular gray pigeons.

When I was growing up, I couldn't get enough of books. I read stuff everywhere, anywhere. We had a tiny bookshelf that seemed to always be overflowing with books, paperwork, magazines, and other literature. Literally bulging. This love for books and my frustration while growing up with the tiny bookshelf made me want a library with a big ol' bookshelf. As an adult, I got my wish. The custom bookshelf was designed by a local artist and the shelf materials were picked out by me and manufactured, fitted, and installed by a Las Vegas woodworking company. There's still a lot of decorating to be done to this room, and I have future plans of putting in a piano in there, more seating arrangement, rugs, side tables, and wall art. Theme for this room will be French Victorian. Some of my favorite things in the Library/Formal living room include:
Set of Chambers Encyclopedia from the 1800s.
Pressed flowers from Roan. "Purpose Driven Life" book given to me by my good friend, Larry Lim.
Poetry books from the early 1900s. Red ribbon from the bouquet of flowers given to me by Roan.

I crush on easily and quickly with things one minute, and forget about them the
next. This category talks about my so-called "5 minute crushes". |
| |
 |
Call this section a journal, a blog, or pathetic, nonsense
rantings. To me, it's just a silly old diary to record
my thoughts and feelings. |
| |
 |
Sometimes I go places, and I like to talk about where
I've been. |
| |
 |
Because I am one, and some times -- ok fine, admittedly,
a lot of times -- I talk like one. |
| |
 |
Posts about this crazy, magical feeling of being "in
love". |
| |
 |
It's about whom you choose to be friends with, and not. |
| |
 |
Distinctive
individuals I admire, loathe, leave me awe-struck, can't
get out of my mind, consider as my role model, irritate
me to no end, or a little of all of the above. |
| |
 |
On the occasions that I take and post digital images,
and want to talk about them, you can find those posts
in this section. |

 |
Posts that talk about tweaks, changes, or upgrades I've
performed on this baby. |

QUICK INFO |

• What is Cornbip?
The Philippine word for the processed good, Corned Beef.
• Does Corned Beef Really Have Corn?
Corning is a form of curing; it has nothing to do with corn. The name comes from
Anglo-Saxon times before refrigeration. In those days, the meat was dry-cured
in coarse "corns" of salt. Pellets of salt, some the size of kernels
of corn, were rubbed into the beef to keep it from spoiling and to preserve it.
• Why Cornbip?
Cornbip is a common item found in many household pantries. It's a relatively inexpensive,
quick meal to serve and can be cooked in several ways that can satisfy anyone's
hunger.
Although this site doesn't really have anything to do with food nor cooking,
I have chosen this domain name because its contents are best served to an audience
with an unfussy appetite for an eclectic mix of photos and writings. |
