Welcome
To My Setting - My Online Diary
Call it an online journal, a blog,
or nonsense musings of an ordinary girl who sometimes has a knack for making the
mundane seem extraordinary.

Just finished reading "The Da Vinci Code", and it's very much as enigmatic as I knew it would be. Really took to this line about faith: "Every faith in the world is based on fabrication. That is the definition of faith -- acceptance of that which we imagine to be true, that which we cannot prove."

It's Roan's fault. He got me curious on these two books. Not NY Times, or even Hollywood. Roan and I were discussing Dan Brown's works and got me wanting to read them. And now my latest additions to my book collection are Dan Brown's "The Da Vinci Code" and "Angels & Demons". Saturday and Sunday will be my "Dan Brown weekend" as I plan to finish off these two books this weekend.

When I was growing up, I couldn't get enough of books. I read stuff everywhere, anywhere. We had a tiny bookshelf that seemed to always be overflowing with books, paperwork, magazines, and other literature. Literally bulging. This love for books and my frustration while growing up with the tiny bookshelf made me want a library with a big ol' bookshelf. As an adult, I got my wish. The custom bookshelf was designed by a local artist and the shelf materials were picked out by me and manufactured, fitted, and installed by a Las Vegas woodworking company. There's still a lot of decorating to be done to this room, and I have future plans of putting in a piano in there, more seating arrangement, rugs, side tables, and wall art. Theme for this room will be French Victorian. Some of my favorite things in the Library/Formal living room include:
Set of Chambers Encyclopedia from the 1800s.
Pressed flowers from Roan. "Purpose Driven Life" book given to me by my good friend, Larry Lim.
Poetry books from the early 1900s. Red ribbon from the bouquet of flowers given to me by Roan.

Roan's brother, Roger, will be leaving for New York on vacation next Tuesday (his first trip to the U.S.) and Roan will be sending me another one of his 'love mails'. Today he showed me the letters he's written me so far that will be sent via Roger.
Awww <blush>.
My little 5'8 cutie-pie.
His love letters to me which will shortly be on their way. Awww <blush> again.
People Watching Can Be a Hobby Sometimes I like to just watch people's actions, how they interact, and what they say. Below are some quips I overheard yesterday that I found amusing: Two girls on their bikes, possibly sisters, riding off towards school. Says one girl to the other, "Hurry up, you little maggot!". The other girl is panting and trying to catch up. -------- It was Lyle's Kindergarten graduation picture day yesterday, and he was telling me how 2 of his classmates weren't there to get their picture taken. "Hailey and Bailey were absent," Lyle says. Me: "Oh, their names rhyme." Lyle: "That's what everyone in my class says. They both have blond hair, but they're not twins." Me: "Oh cool, blond hair. What color are their eyes?" Lyle: "I don't know. I don't look at their eyes." Me: "Why not?" Lyle, in a whisper: "Mom. Because it's impolite to stare."

Hard to believe it's been 12 months since we've been together -- so many ups and downs; a whole year of intrigues, hurdles, difficulties of being apart and maintaining a long-distance relationship, that we've managed to get through. It's been one heck of a ride so far with this guy, but I wouldn't trade the experiences, the lessons, the emotions, the tears and laughter for anything in the world. Our first anniversary started off with a sweet wake up call from him in the morning, and later on, being that we're thousands of miles apart, we spent about 14 hours online together. Just what the heck do people do when they're together online that long? Well, long hours are typical with us, and we spend the time just chatting, talking about our days, about people, our families; we play online games together, chat with our friends, eat together on cam -- like photos below.
Roan either brings a "baon" (packed food) to the Internet cafe where he chats with me, or buys food from outside vendors. The former is of course more cost-effective for him.
Today, he brought some spicy squid conconction that he cooked himself, along with some rice and hot dog.
I don't know why he even tries. I always beat him at word games. Like here, for instance, in a game of online Word Racer where I kicked his butt pretty badly. Happy 1st Anniversary, engot! Love you!

Seriously, I want one. I've been browsing sites for one, and I decided I don't want just any scooter. I want this one from Lucky 7 Motorsports. Most of the driving I do is pretty much short-ranged, and with the rise of gas prices, I thought a scooter would be a fun and cost-effective transportation solution. Why do I want this specific moped from Lucky 7? Well, let's take a look at the features included in the buck: Specifications Engine: Single Cylinder, 4 Stroke,150cc, Air Cooled Top Speed: 60 + Mph Length: 74" Width: 29" Height: 41" Transmission: Automatic Seat Height: 30" Fuel Efficiency: 65-70 Mpg Brakes: Front Hydraulic Disc Brake, Rear Hydraulic Disc Brake Dry Weight: 205 lbs "Need we say more than “70 miles per gallon”? We don’t think so but we won’t stop there if you’re one of those people we have to sell hard too. Here are some extras that will make you salivate for your own moped by the end of our schpeel.
The Tank 150 is a single cylinder; 4-stroke automatic moped that boasts speeds up to 65 to 75 miles per hour. And don’t worry because the 150cc engine is equipped with enough torque and horsepower you will be able to hit the hills. It has BOTH an electric start and kick-start but also has the REMOTE START and kill switch with an alarm." Plus, there's free shipping included. I would love to get my hands and booty on this baby! Any one out there want to donate this moped to a young, beautiful woman (ehem, lol) who would look so darn good driving on this thing?

I crush on easily and quickly with things one minute, and forget about them the
next. This category talks about my so-called "5 minute crushes". |

Call this section a journal, a blog, or pathetic, nonsense
rantings. To me, it's just a silly old diary to record
my thoughts and feelings. |

 |
Sometimes I go places, and I like to talk about where
I've been. |

 |
Because I am one, and some times -- ok fine, admittedly,
a lot of times -- I talk like one. |

Posts about this crazy, magical feeling of being "in

It's about whom you choose to be friends with, and not. |

Distinctive
individuals I admire, loathe, leave me awe-struck, can't
get out of my mind, consider as my role model, irritate
me to no end, or a little of all of the above. |

On the occasions that I take and post digital images,
and want to talk about them, you can find those posts

QUICK INFO |

• What is Cornbip?
The Philippine word for the processed good, Corned Beef.
• Does Corned Beef Really Have Corn?
Corning is a form of curing; it has nothing to do with corn. The name comes from
Anglo-Saxon times before refrigeration. In those days, the meat was dry-cured
in coarse "corns" of salt. Pellets of salt, some the size of kernels
of corn, were rubbed into the beef to keep it from spoiling and to preserve it.
• Why Cornbip?
Cornbip is a common item found in many household pantries. It's a relatively inexpensive,
quick meal to serve and can be cooked in several ways that can satisfy anyone's
hunger.
Although this site doesn't really have anything to do with food nor cooking,
I have chosen this domain name because its contents are best served to an audience
with an unfussy appetite for an eclectic mix of photos and writings. |
